Team News – Derby

An optimistic fan of Derby County will hear nothing of their poor start to the season, instead choosing to focus on the fact they are unbeaten in three, and have lost just one of their last five. That form has seen them edge their way through the charts ever so slightly, but critics will be quick to point out the locals go in on the back of three draws on the bounce, and have won just three of their first 10.

Level finishes has stunted The Ram’s progress of late, meaning another draw on Sunday deserves our attention. The points shared is second favourite in the match betting market, with Betfair’s 11/4 the general feeling at the time of asking. To make things more interesting, these sides were seen scrapping out an entertaining 2-2 draw when last going head-to-head back in March. Both teams to score again is a lively option in your accumulator predictions, Sportingbet trading a standout 4/5. Odds-on, but there’s plenty to like there.

Derby finished goalless with Cardiff City when last in league action, but that can’t be easily ignored, considering the Welsh side are top of the league. Crossing the border is never an easy task at this level, but County held their own, limiting the hosts to just two shots on target, most of the danger coming from long-range. An admirable performance, and Derby to build on that with a win here is 5/6, top offer when getting your stake money on at bet365.

Team News – Nottingham Forest

I must say I expected Forest to struggle this season, and although they are down in 13th, they’ve fared better than I predicted, going into this with a record of five wins against six defeats. Victory over Sunderland and Sheffield United sandwich defeats to Wolves, Aston Villa and Fulham. The Tricky Trees also suffered a humiliating 5-1 loss to Chelsea in the League Cup last month at the bridge.

Mark Warburton’s crew were on the winning side of the result last time out, edging past The Blades courtesy of a 2-1 score. Sheffield United took the lead inside three minutes, Lundstram netting an opener to stun the home support, but Forest didn’t waste much time getting back into it, Cummings levelling on nine minutes and Dowell giving his employers the edge on 27. Warburton called it a vital three points, a win he believed would ease tension in the ranks.

Another maximum would have fans and players believing they can achieve something of note this season, but bookies don’t rate the away day too highly. If you want to have a go on Forest, make sure you get your cash down at Sportingbet, as they’re trading a top price 21/5 on the points travelling back to the City Ground. +1 on the handicap appeals at 11/10 (Coral).

Derby vs Nottingham Forest – Championship Tips and Betting Predictions

A flick through the results of Nottingham Forest confirmed what I expected to see of Warburton’s men. Both teams have scored in each of Nottingham Forest’s last five starts, and I reckon this one will fall into line. Place those results alongside Derby’s, with both teams scoring in four of their last five, and we have a bet on our hands. 4/5 at Betfair is more than enough to catch the attention, and we have a go in our betting tips.

I expect a real run for our money there, but those waiting for the ace of our correct score predictions will have more to get excited about. Given Derby’s recent run of draws, and the fact there’s little between these sides in the league, we’ll have 2-2 in our corner, currently trading at 16/1 with William Hill. That price is a fair bit better than I expected it to be.
