Swansea v Man Utd Tips

The Sky Sports cameras are off to the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday for the pick of the evening’s EFL Cup matches. An all-Premier League match-up, Swansea host Manchester United, with the Welsh reps looking to stick the boot into Jose Mourinho on the back of a difficult two weeks. The visitors have fallen off the pace, picking up just one point from the last six available.

Swansea have fared better, winning three points from the last half-dozen up for grabs, but which side will book their place in the next round, moving a step closer to lifting silverware at Wembley? The odds suggest an away win is the way to play this one. We dig a bit deeper – read on for the best of our betting tips and predictions.

Team News – Swansea

Swansea City picked up only their second league win of the season on their penultimate start when beating Huddersfield at this venue, courtesy of a 2-0 score. Back-to-back home games in their first two outings of this month gave Paul Clement’s side a great chance to pull clear of the danger zone, but they sit down in 15th after nine games played, having returned to losing ways last time out. The Swans take a break from league action, having lost three of their last four at that level.

We thought they had every chance of bagging two-in-a-row when hosting Leicester City on Saturday, but it proved to be another painful outing, ending on the wrong side of a 2-1 result. The final score suggests a close match, but The Foxes looked comfortable throughout, goals from Fernandez OG and Okazaki giving the managerless team a 2-0 lead. Mawson struck back early in the second-half to make things interesting, but the locals couldn’t find a goal that would hand them a share.

That poor run of form goes some way to explaining why bookmakers are confident enough to write Swansea off here, giving out as much as bet365’s 7/1 if you want to go against the grain and back a Welsh upset. A nice price, of course, but I’d be surprised to see it show up in too many betting tips and predictions. The same firm have the draw more likely at 10/3, while both teams to score is always an option in your accumulators at 21/20 (Ladbrokes).

Team News – Man Utd

Mourinho’s Manchester United were coasting going into October, but they appear to have fallen back into old habits, a defeat and draw leaving them five points off rivals Man City at the top of the Premier League. In the blink of an eye, what was shaping up to be a competitive title race is in danger of becoming a City charge for the line.

United remain second, and have won three of their last five, but followed a goalless draw vs Liverpool with a 2-1 defeat away to Huddersfield on Saturday. Mooy and Depoitre were on target, Rashford hitting back for the beaten side. That result gave The Terriers their first win over United in 65 years, and it was fully deserved too. Mourinho was furious, blaming his players’ terrible attitude, calling it worse than a friendly. He wasn’t wrong.

Man Utd must get back on track here, and victory would not only give them a real chance of defending their crown, it would also see them steady the ship after a rocky spell, but will Jose change things up in an attempt to shake his side to life? There’s no lack of quality on the fringes, all eager to stake their claim for a more regular starting place. A night on the bench or in the stands may just liven some of his stars up. An away win is favourite, 1/2 going at bet365.

Swansea vs Man Utd – Carabao EFL League Cup Tips and Betting Predictions

We’re going to keep this simple and back the Man Utd win as the best of our betting tips. The 1/2 at bet365 is more than good enough to sit in our midweek accumulators, and I’m expecting a big response from the Manchester United team. Although they’re on the road, they have a point to prove, and are more than capable of doing it with a comfortable win.

An odds-on shot will do a favour in your multiples, but if you’re after more from the live game, something to cheer on to brighten your midweek, we’re having 2-0 Man Utd as the next best of our predictions. Follow our thinking and get a cracking 6/1 at William Hill. That’s favourite, but the price is good enough to catch our eye. Good luck if you follow.
