League One, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 14th October 2017 from The Valley
Charlton are hot favourites to pick up a much-needed three points at The Valley on Saturday when hosting Doncaster. On paper, neither side deserver our stake money, The Addicks winning just one of their last five, Rovers claiming two and losing three in the same period. So, who gets the nod?
Our crew have trawled through the relevant facts and figures, returning with their idea of two bets worth having, one NAP and another at a bigger price, meaning there’s something for everyone. Charlton sit in the promotion zone, but are just three points better than MK Dons down in 14th. Free betting tips and predictions laid out below.

Team News – Charlton
Unbeaten in their last three, the locals followed back-to-back draws vs Bury and Walsall with a comfortable away win over Fleetwood. In a competitive division, that lifted them into the top-six play-off places, and it would come as no surprise to see them finish there in the spring. They have a squad capable of extending their season, and fans will be hoping a strong finish to September proves to be the turning point.
There was no better way to sign off for the month than with that away win over The Trawlermen. The victors had Tarique Fosu-Henry to thank for the points too, the young midfielder netting a hat-trick. In an even first-half, the match winner scored twice to give his side a lead at the break, one either side of a reply from Bobby Grant. A third on 71 minutes ended any hopes of a Fleetwood fightback. A deserved three points, the victors having five shots on target, scoring with three.
Odds compilers were impressed, and seem keen to keep Charlton close on Saturday. A home win has been priced up as favourite, and if you want to follow that, William Hill are offering a tempting 23/20. A nice price about the locals, and sure to go in a share of betting tips. The Addicks won 2-0 when last hosting Doncaster, another win to nil can be added to predictions at 3/1 through Coral. Fosu to score again on Saturday is 23/10 with the same firm in the anytime market.
Team News – Doncaster
Doncaster have been below-par in the opening exchanges of this season, with their last five outings showing three defeats and two wins. They followed a pair of losses against Shrewsbury and Bradford with a strong start to October, beating Sunderland U21s in the EFL Trophy and Southend in League One. That gives Darren Ferguson’s side something to build on, fans hoping they have finally found their feet at this level and can push through the ranks.
A 4-1 win over Southend at home last weekend boosted confidence in the dressing room no end, and it was a victory achieved despite falling behind to a Wordsworth goal on 38 minutes. Marquis levelled up in first-half stoppage-time, making Ferguson’s team talk easier, a second-45 hat-trick from Whiteman turning the game on its head. All three goals came in 10 minutes of each other. Fast and effective.
That lifted Donny to 17th in the table, three points clear of the relegation zone, and another win here has the potential to edge them closer to midtable. The draw can’t be easily written off, and that’s a 13/5 shot, best price with Betfair, while the same firm have the away win trading 23/10. A nice price, but it’s not for us.
Charlton vs Doncaster – League One Tips and Betting Predictions
Doncaster are getting better, and I’d be surprised if they were to finish in the bottom-four this season. Their progress is slow however and I doubt they have what it takes to go to The Valley and pick up all three points. We’re going to back the home win in our betting tips and have Charlton to do the business at 23/20 (William Hill).
Far from nailed on, but the price will do us a favour and should give a serious boost to your Saturday accumulators. Shooting for the correct score and we go 2-0 Charlton as the next best of our predictions at 11/1 (Betfair). Doncaster conceded two goals in each of their last two defeats, and will be up against it again here. That would also have been a winning bet when these sides last met at this venue.
