Carlisle vs Notts County – Tips and Betting Predictions

League Two, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 21st October 2017 from Brunton Park

Carlisle v Notts County Tips

Carlisle aim for three points when hosting Notts County on Saturday, but the locals have struggled to put wins on the board, managing just five from their first 14. They’ve lost more than they’ve won to date, explaining why they can be found treading water down in 15th. The Cumbrians now chance their luck against second top.

There’s been plenty more to cheer for visiting fans, County sitting in the silver medal position, just a point off the pace set by an impressive Luton Town. Just four points separates The Hatters in first and Accrington Stanley in fifth, meaning we have a fascinating season ahead. Free match betting tips and predictions to follow.

Team News – Carlisle

Keith Curle and his boys have underperformed, certainly when measuring their efforts against those of last season. They’ve recorded just five wins, but two of those victories have come in their last four starts, helping put distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Currently nine points better than Forest Green Rovers and the drop, they can start to look up towards midtable. A top-half finish is the least they will aim for this term, but that will be re-evaluated at Christmas.

Seven points from their last 12, Carlisle followed a win over Colchester away from home with a thrilling six-goal draw on Tuesday. Entertaining Wycombe, Lambe netted a double, either side of a Devitt penalty, Saunders, Akinfenwa and Cowan-Hall knocking in replies. The latter came with 94 minutes on the clock, meaning United can count themselves rather unfortunate not to get the win.

The possession ended in an even split, but Wanderers had plenty more of the ball in front of goal, registering 17 shots. They scored three of six on target, while Carlisle made their numbers count, hitting the net with each of their three shots on goal. Carlisle are favourites for the points, and if you want to back them, do so at Betfair, where you’ll get a top price 13/8. Another draw is an option in your betting tips at 9/5 with the same firm.

Team News – Notts County

Notts County may go in second, but they have failed to do themselves any favours in recent starts, winning just one of their last four, losing two during that run. Manager Kevin Nolan must arrest that slump as soon as possible, with Accrington in fifth just a win behind. That one cheer in four came over Barnet on their penultimate start, edging to a 2-1 result, but was followed with defeat away to Crewe in midweek.

A goal either side of half-time, from Raynes and Bowery, gave Alexandra the win they so desperately needed, and there was few inside the stadium who would’ve grudged them all three points. They were the better team on the night, and Notts County must suck it up and move on. Despite having 58% of the match possession, the beaten side put just three shots on target.

The starting line-up that night suggests Kevin Nolan took the match lightly. He’ll be desperate to steady the ship with a maximum on Saturday, but the away day is second favourite across the board, Ladbrokes’ 7/4 the general feeling. Worth a pop in your predictions? We think so. Take the higher ranked side +1 on the handicap at 4/7 (bet365).

Carlisle vs Notts County – League Two Tips and Betting Predictions

A tough one to call, both sides are capable of winning this one, but they’re just as likely to throw the points away. County have been much the better of the two so far, and we’re going to give them the benefit of the doubt and side with the away win in our betting tips. The 7/4 (Ladbrokes) is better than I expected to find, and we’ll try our luck at a nice offer.

Nicer still would be landing the correct score, and here we’re going to play for a 1-0 County win at 9/1 with Bet Victor. Carlisle have lost two of their last three home matches in all competitions by that very score, including the 1-0 vs Exeter earlier this month. A decent quote, and a winner there would cover the cost of our weekend.
