League Two, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 21st October 2017 from Ricoh Arena
Coventry and Colchester face-off at the Ricoh Arena on a busy day in League Two. The pair last shared a division during the 2015/16 campaign, up in League One, and we had an interesting set of results that season. The team playing away from home winning on each occasion. That would suggest a bet on Colchester is the smart play here.
Bookmakers don’t agree, pricing Coventry as odds-on favourites to get the desired result in front of their own fans. Should you place your trust in the form or the odds? Our team will help keep you on the right path with their betting tips and predictions.

Team News – Coventry
Coventry are battling away at the top end of the League Two table, hoping for a return to League One. Hey, it would be a start for the former FA Cup winners. The Sky Blues go into round 15 in eighth, but we’re not going to get carried away with their start, as it remains to be seen whether they’re over the worst of their troubles or not. They’ve lost each of their last two, which does absolutely nothing to inspire confidence in the home cheer.
An upturn in form was brought to a halt with defeat to Accrington on their penultimate start, a match they really should be winning. Stanley are a decent side on their day, but gave a taste of things to come, Mark Robins’ outfit then beaten by Forest Green Rovers in midweek at the Ricoh, which is nothing short of criminal.
FGR won’t win too many matches this year, but they sailed to a 1-0 on Tuesday, thanks to a winning goal from Marsh-Brown in the first-half. There was plenty of time to get level, but the locals couldn’t, and have now failed to score in each of their last three. Take another blank day in front of goal in your predictions at 7/2 with Sportingbet. A home win is likely to be more popular in weekend betting tips, rating as a 3/4 jolly with 888Sport.
Team News – Colchester
Colchester are stuck in the bottom-half of the division, but an away win here would not only heap pressure on the home dressing room, it could also lift them to 11th, giving a solid platform on which to build. They nicked a 1-0 win when last at this venue, an early strike from Gavin Massey proving the difference that day. They also line-up in the back of a decent run, having won three of their last four, including victory last time out.
The spare in that run was a 1-0 home loss to Carlisle on their penultimate start, but they followed that with a 2-1 nod away to Newport County, a result not to be taken lightly. A quick-fire double from Jackson and Mandron sealed the deal on 72 and 77 minutes, a McCoulsky reply coming too late to trouble the draw. Both teams to score on Saturday is 19/20 (William Hill).
That’s more likely that Colchester recording back-to-back wins over Coventry, and traders have written the away day off as a no hoper, 4/1 available with most firms, including Betfair. That’s a big price in what is a tight division, especially with the local’s recent form. Worth a punt? We wouldn’t put you off if that was your thing.
Coventry vs Colchester – League Two Tips and Betting Predictions
Two sides who are, on paper, evenly matched, and I don’t think there’s going to be an awful lot in this, especially in front of goal. Coventry have struggled to put the ball in the net, so I’m going with under 2.5 goals as the NAP of our betting tips at 5/6 with Boylesports. That’ll sit nicely in your accumulators, alongside similar selections.
As always, we shoot for the stars with the next best of our predictions, trying our luck in the correct score market. 1-0 Coventry is the standout there, and that’s also favourite in the betting. Shortest price, perhaps, but we can’t turn our nose up at 888Sport’s 6/1 lure. Have a go in the hope of getting both bets home and hosed.
