Chelsea vs Watford – Tips and Betting Predictions

Premier League, kick-off at 12:30pm Saturday 21st October 2017 from Stamford Bridge

Chelsea v Watford Tips

We get Saturday up-and-running with a meeting of neighbours Chelsea and Watford at Stamford Bridge, played out live in front of the Sky Sports cameras from 12.30pm. On paper, this looks a strong home win, but the stats suggest otherwise, The Blues losing each of their last two, Watford unbeaten in three.

The visitors go into game nine higher in the table than their opponents, sitting fourth to Chelsea’s fifth, two points better off. It’s unlikely they’ll finish up that way come the better weather, but Watford must be given credit for their strong start to the season. Read on for our expert betting tips and predictions, including a big price play.

Team News – Chelsea

Believe it or not, last season’s champions prepare for this match on the back of two defeats on the bounce. Beaten by 1-0 by Man City at the bridge on their penultimate go, they were then upset by Crystal Palace across London in a bitterly disappointing start to the month. The scoreline vs league leaders City suggests a close match, but The Citizens dominated the football, an away win never looking in danger. Then came shock of the season.

Crystal Palace welcomed Chelsea to town showing a miserable run of form. No wins on the board, The Eagles hadn’t scored a single goal in their seven previous starts. That didn’t matter, as they out-worked the favourites, battling for every ball and half-chance, ending as deserved winners of the points. No one saw it coming, but Palace picked up their first win of the season. Azpilicueta scored an OG on 11 minutes, Bakayoko netted an equaliser shortly after, before Zaha had the final say on 45. A result that ruined accumulators across the land.

Chelsea are now nine points off Manchester City, who are showing no signs of slowing down. It may be very early in the season, but the locals have their hopes of two in-a-row hanging by a thread, and I really wouldn’t have money on them pulling it back and winning the league. Despite that, three defeats on the bounce has been written off, a home win available in your betting tips and predictions at 1/3 (Bet Victor).

Team News – Watford

Watford hold a place in the top-four, and if they can stay there, the board will surely abandon their tactics of replacing the manager every summer. Marco Silva has been impressive – he has his side playing attractive football and, above all else, has them winning football matches they really shouldn’t be winning. The Hornets go on the back of a stunning 2-1 victory over Arsenal at Vicarage Road, meaning they’ve won two and drawn one of their last three.

Not given a hope by the traders going into that clash with The Gunners, the writing looked to be on the wall when Mertesacker put his employers ahead on 39 minutes. Cue the late, dramatic fightback, and further pain for Wenger. Deeney scored from the spot on 71 minutes to level up, and although Arsenal were expected to nick in and get another, Cleverley had the final say, bagging a winner with 92 minutes on the clock.

Silva wasn’t about to get carried away, telling fans beating relegation remains his number one priority, but those in the stands will allow themselves to dream, imagining what could be if only the club keep up their fantastic form. A win at Stamford Bridge goes at a massive 10/1 with Betfair, which looks disrespectful.

Chelsea vs Watford – Premier League Tips and Betting Predictions

Watford are bigger than they should be, and I wouldn’t put anyone off having a go at the price, especially as there’s no value whatsoever in backing Chelsea. Confidence is low in the home dressing room and, for that reason, we’re having both teams to score as the NAP of our betting tips. Get onboard and Sportingbet will hand over a decent 9/8. That should give us something to cheer in multiples.

I do expect Chelsea to win, but can’t back them at 1/3. Therefore, we’re going to try our luck in the correct score market, where 3-1 Blues stands as the next best of our predictions. We’ll need a fair share of luck, of course, but Watford like to play football, meaning there will be chances at either end. 11/1 (bet365) says we’re onto something there.
