Premier League, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 14th October 2017 from Selhurst Park
Crystal Palace’s form so far this season suggests Chelsea have been handed a gimme three points on Saturday when the champions travel to Selhurst Park for a 3.00pm start. Odds compilers have the away win marked as short-price favourite, but considering Palace have lost all seven of their previous starts and failed to score a goal, it’s not as bad as it could’ve been for punters.
There’s bits and pieces of interest about for those looking to have Chelsea in their accumulators, but plenty more value if digging deeper into the special bets, including first goal scorer, correct score and handicap. We’ve found a couple of bets worth having – let us guide you through our betting tips and predictions.

Team News – Crystal Palace
Roy Hodgson is now at the helm, charged with picking up the pieces following the sacking of Frank de Boer, but he hasn’t had too much impact so far, the current crop of players looking beyond help. Of course, that’s not strictly true, but they’ve shown us nothing so far that would suggest better times are around the corner, and the fact Palace have failed to score a single goal in seven defeats books their place in history. It’s now officially the worst start to a Premier League season.
A double-header against the Manchester clubs ended as everyone would have expected, beaten 5-0 by City at the Etihad on their penultimate outing, before losing 4-0 at Old Trafford last time out. Nine goals conceded, no points gained, just what they didn’t need with confidence in the ranks already at rock-bottom. Mata scored inside three minutes, Fellaini hit a double, Lukaku continuing his scoring ways with a fourth. As we mentioned, Palace didn’t score, and no wonder, managing just one shot on target all afternoon.
Man City, Man Utd and now Chelsea, someone appears to have it in for Palace, and I wouldn’t have free money on the home win here. How could I? I’d have my work cut-out trying to make a case for backing the locals. Palace to score would be a start, and that’s 10/11 (Betfred), which is surprising. I’d much rather have 19/20 (William Hill) about another dry day in front of goal. A line has been put through the home cheer, traders at Paddy Power handing over 8/1 to anyone who wants a go. Fancy it? No, me either. +2 on the handicap is 4/6 across the board.
Team News – Chelsea
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will be licking his lips at the prospect of travelling across London to an opponent who can’t buy a win at the moment. The Blues bus with a record of four wins, one draw and two defeats, currently good enough for fourth. They’re level on points with Arsenal in fifth, and just three better than Newcastle down in 10th, so a maximum pay-out is a must. Chelsea are six points off leaders Man City, and six ahead of Everton down in 16th, so must get a move on.
They were beaten last time out by The Citizens, a 1-0 Man City win masking the dominance of the league leaders. De Bruyne scored the winning goal on 67 minutes to settle the tie, and it was no more than deserved, The Blues having just 38% of the overall possession on the day. Conte can consider himself taught a lesson by Pep and neutrals will be forced to admit the winners are looking the real deal this season.
Conte told reporters in his post-match press conference that he was disappointed, but pleased with the commitment of his players. When two talented sides go head-to-head anything can happen, but they gave everything in defeat, and he couldn’t ask for any more. Chelsea to bounce back to winning ways is 2/5 with Coral.
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea – Premier League Tips and Betting Predictions
Chelsea are the winners of this match, and I was surprised to see 2/5 available. Personally, I expected to see closer to the 1/4 mark, given the form of Palace and just how bad they are looking at the minute. We’re going to keep this one simple – Palace have been losing and not scoring, making a Chelsea win to nil the best of our betting tips at 5/4 with Boylesports. That’s top price, and a decent offer, given the match betting prices.
So, if we’re taking for granted that Chelsea will win, we must now work out how they’ll win. Poking around in the correct score market and we’re on 3-0 as the next best of our predictions at Selhurst Park, an outcome that will earn you 8/1 with most firms, including Coral. Chelsea won by that very score in one of their most recent visits to this venue. Let’s have more of the same.
