Huddersfield vs Man Utd – Tips and Betting Predictions

Premier League, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 21st October 2017 from John Smith's Stadium

Huddersfield v Man Utd Tips

Manchester United took a valuable point from Liverpool in a display of discipline last weekend, but they’ll be eager to build on that and return to winning ways when visiting the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday. March 1972 was the last time these sides met, United winning 2-0.

We live in a very different world now, but the result is expected to be similar, the away day marked as hot favourite with traders across the board. United are tight, but there’s plenty of value out there if you’re willing to work for it. Let us do the graft – betting tips and predictions to follow.

Team News – Huddersfield

The Terriers started well, but the feel-good factor has well and truly run out. Huddersfield have managed just two wins and three draws from their first eight, and go into this leg following back-to-back defeats. They sit 12th, and would surely bite your hand off to finish there come the final tally, but are just three points better than Leicester in the relegation zone. David Wagner must arrest the slump.

Huddersfield have only three league matches planned for October, but they started off on the wrong foot, beaten by Swansea in Wales, courtesy of a 2-0 final score. The Swans were expected to bank all three points, and did so with minimal fuss, Tammy Abraham scoring a double, one either side of the half-time break. That was their first home win of the season, easing the pressure on manager Paul Clement, who thanked fans for sticking with his men. Wagner took defeat on the chin – it’s likely he’ll have to get used to it – but thought his side’s first-half performance was frustrating.

They must start much stronger against Manchester United on Saturday if they are to have any chance of getting anything out of the match. A sloppy first 45 could see their in form opponents out of sight by half-time. Bookmakers are keen to take Huddersfield on, and if you fancy having the upset in your betting tips and predictions, be sure to play at Paddy Power. They lead the charge at 11/1. A lure worth snapping at?

Team News – Man Utd

Man Utd, alongside Man City, are the only two sides still unbeaten on league duty. They had to settle for a share of the spoils, following three wins on the bounce with a goalless draw away to Liverpool last weekend. Jose Mourinho will see that as a good point to have, denying a rival for the top-four the chance to win at home. Over the course of the season, he could be right too.

Setting up to defend, frustrating Liverpool and their support, The Red Devils hoped to hit on the break, perhaps nicking a narrow 1-0 win, but it wasn’t to be, striker Lukaku suffering a rare off-day in the final-third. At the other end, David de Gea was in top form, pulling off a string of remarkable saves to keep the score level. He was named man of the match, and deservedly so.

Lukaku wanted to prove he could do the business against one of the division’s better sides, but failed to deliver. That will rank as a real disappointment for the player. He’s 23/10 favourite with William Hill to get back on track with the first goal of this game, the same firm giving 8/11 a strike anytime. The Man Utd win is no more than 1/3 when betting at Coral. That makes sense, but rules most punters out of an interest.

Huddersfield vs Man Utd – Premier League Tips and Betting Predictions

Of course we’re going to back Man Utd here, they haven’t put a foot wrong so far this season and Mourinho, despite falling behind City, will remain confident they can win the league. We can’t get involved in the match betting prices, so are having United -1 on the handicap at even money with Coral as the best of our betting tips. The visitors will get chances, and Lukaku will be keen to make them count.

Not a bad price, considering the match betting odds, and that should give us something to shout about in our weekend accas, but those after a super single can aim for a bigger price in the best of our correct score predictions. 2-0 Man Utd is second favourite 5/1 (bet365), and that’s the best value we’ll get out of this one.
