Premier League, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 21st October 2017 from Bet365 Stadium
Stoke were pummelled by Man City last weekend, leaking seven goals in the process. The Potters have now lost half of their first eight and can be found down at the wrong end of the table as a result, two points better than Leicester in the relegation zone. They must turn around their fortunes, and fast.
Mark Hughes’ side are expected to do just that on Saturday, bookmakers pricing them as short price favourites to bank win number three of the campaign. To achieve that they must first better a Bournemouth side second bottom of the pile. An early season relegation scrap? Not quite. Here’s our betting tips and predictions.

Team News – Stoke
Just four points stands between Stoke and Bournemouth, but the hosts should hack their way through the ranks sooner or later. They have plenty of experience scrapping for points at this level and in Hughes, have a boss who knows how to get the best out of his players. The proud gaffer will be hurting after that loss to Man City, but The Citizens are in devastating form, meaning The Potters must dust themselves down and move it. There’s certainly no shame in it.
Stoke have won just one of their last five, three defeats and a draw making up the numbers there. They conceded seven at the Etihad Stadium, but did manage two of their own, and briefly pulled the game back to 3-2, courtesy of goals from Diouf and a Walker OG. Two away to City is no mean feat. The locals haven’t been winning, but they’re been scoring, seven in their last five. That includes a 2-2 draw with Man Utd.
Stoke to continue that form in front of goal has been priced at 2/9 (William Hill), the price on them getting at least one. A lot more likely than the local win, but Stoke are jollies, according to traders, no more than Betfair’s 23/20 available. Put the two together and we may just have a play in our betting tips and predictions – both teams to score in a Stoke win at 7/2 (Betfair).
Team News – Bournemouth
If the first eight games have been tough for Stoke fans, they’ve been worse for those loyal to the Bournemouth cause, The Cherries dropping into the bottom-three thanks to a run of one win, one draw and six defeats. They did bank that spare draw on their penultimate start, ending goalless with Leicester, but that remains sandwiched between defeat to Everton and Tottenham. Two good sides, but Everton can’t buy a win at the moment, and Spurs struggle at Wembley.
Pochettino’s crew finally got off the mark at their temporary base, earning their first home league win of the season thanks to a 1-0 cheer. Eriksen made the difference, netting shortly after the restart, and although there were chances at either end, it proved to be the winning goal. The Cherries have now failed to hit the net in their last two, and have managed just one in their last three league starts.
Bournemouth to struggle again, drawing another blank? 7/4 is available through William Hill. If you fancy them to break that bad habit and get on the scoresheet at least once, Sportingbet’s 12/25 is the best you’ll find. A rare, much-needed win for Eddie Howe is outsider of three in the match betting at 14/5, the draw more likely at 12/5, both prices available with Betfair. Given their form, I’d be surprised to see either prove too popular.
Stoke vs Bournemouth – Premier League Tips and Betting Predictions
Stoke are better than their record suggests, and I have no problem giving the home win as the NAP of our betting tips. The 23/20 (Betfair) is a fair bit bigger than you’ll find with the majority of the competition. If they take their chances, and Bournemouth continue to struggle, we will be on to a good bet at a nice price. I’m confident.
Keeping The Cherries’ barren run in mind, we’re having 2-0 Stoke as the next best of our predictions, a correct score punt that will be paid out at 10/1 (bet365) if our thinking proves to be shrewd. That’s fourth favourite, but there’s enough there to catch our eye. Keep your stakes low and enjoy a shot at the value.
