Swansea vs Huddersfield – Tips and Betting Predictions

Premier League, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 14th October 2017 from Liberty Stadium

Swansea v Huddersfield Tips

We’re off to Wales for a 3.00pm start from the Premier League as struggling Swansea take on recently promoted Huddersfield. It has been a case of business as usual for the home side, who spent most of last season in the relegation zone, and are back there. Huddersfield have had more to shout about, enjoying their Premier League adventure – at least up until now.

The Swans have won just one top-tier match so far this season, but find themselves as favourites to double their tally on Saturday. They’re convincing jollies too, according to traders, but I’d have that as a tad disrespectful to The Terriers. There’s reasons to fancy the upset. Follow our profitable betting tips and predictions for more on that.

Team News – Swansea

Swansea’s sole win of the season came back in August when beating Crystal Palace, but we can’t read too much into that. It was five starts ago, and came against a side who have yet to win a game or score a goal. Taking that out of the equation, the locals have drawn two and lost four, including defeat in each of their last two. That has them 18th in the pile, level on points with Leicester City, but stuck in the bottom-three on goal difference, The Foxes two better off.

September ended like a damp squib. Beaten by Watford at home on their last start at this venue, they were then on the wrong side of a 1-0 result vs West Ham in Stratford. They must be afforded a bit of credit for the way they handled themselves that day, losing out to a 90th minute winner from Sakho, but it was another case of close, but no cigar. Interestingly, their three defeats in September ended with a one-goal margin in each.

Remember, they also got a goalless draw at Wembley vs Spurs, so we can’t be too harsh on Clement and co. Take them +1 on the handicap and you’ll find no more than 3/10. Odds compilers certainly aren’t jumping to any conclusions, and can see the good in a home cheer. So much so, if you think Swansea merit a place in your Saturday betting tips and predictions, you’ll have to make do with 23/20 (Boylesports). The draw has been scratched up at 23/10, best offer when getting your money on at Sportingbet.

Team News – Huddersfield

Huddersfield have been dropping down the table, and go into this tie winless in five, but their strong start to the season sees them hold their own in the middle. Two wins, three draws and two defeats, good enough for 11th place. Not too bad – they’re four better than the relegation zone, with only four points to find to match Chelsea in the top-four.

Keeping that in mind, this goes as a crossroads match for the away side. Win and they will progress towards the prize places, lose and a few results go against them and you’ll quickly find Huddersfield down around the danger zone. They followed back-to-back draws vs Leicester and Burnley with a heavy home defeat at the hands of Spurs last time out. The Londoners seem to play their better football away from Wembley, so we won’t go over the top on that.

The side playing at home lost 1-0 in each of the two meetings involving these sides during the 2007/08 season, when the pair last shared a division, that being League One. They’ve not crossed paths since, but those keen to follow that trend can get on a Huddersfield 1-0 upset at 9/1, best price with Betfair. Away win, regardless of how they achieve the points, will be made feel most welcome by David Wagner, and that’s a 3/1 pop at Bet Victor, who are most generous.

Swansea vs Huddersfield – Premier League Tips and Betting Predictions

A tough one to call, neither side have made a habit of winning, but neither have been losing heavily either. If Swansea had a rub of the green in recent weeks they may just have picked up a draw here and there. I have this as a 50/50 however, so there’s no doubt Huddersfield are worth a chance in our betting tips. The Terriers +1 on the handicap at 3/4 (bet365) is our best.

Sticking with that, and we’re going to keep our stakes small and aim for something at a bigger price from the correct score field. 2-1 Huddersfield is played to interest stakes, but we’ll have a smile painted across our face if it comes good, bet365 gifting a generous 14/1. As we said, that’s to give an interest, but The Swans did lose 2-1 when last at the Liberty Stadium.
