Team News – Hearts

Craig Levein took over from the misfiring Ian Cathro, the latter looking out of his depth, but the former Scotland boss hasn’t brought about the instant improvement fans had hoped for. The locals are making strides off the field of play, but are currently stuck down in the bottom-six after nine games played, showing an even split – three wins, three draws and three defeats. If things don’t improve, turning draws into wins, they won’t end much higher than they are now.

The Jambos did bank a maximum last time out, beating Ross County 2-1 away from home, in a match that looked destined for a draw. Goncalves gave Hearts the lead on 34 minutes, but they were immediately pegged back, Keillor-Dunn notching an equaliser on 36. 1-1 at half-time, Walker finally won the points with a decider on the hour mark, before Randall was sent off, Hearts playing the last 25 minutes with 10 men, clinging on that their slim advantage.

Levein called it a relief to get the points, the boss joking when telling members of the press he should have kept his cushy director of football job. The beaten side are improving under Owen Coyle, but were made to pay for not taking the chances that came their way. Two wins on the bounce would certainly help Hearts’ case, and they can be added to betting tips and predictions at 10/11 (Betfair). That price makes them favourite, of course, and seems to be the general feeling at the time of writing.

Team News – St Johnstone

Victory for St Johnstone would see them move level with Rangers and into the top-three. They’d trail the Glasgow club on goals, barring a massive away win, but would be more than happy to crank up the pressure on a Gers team who have been far from convincing so far. Despite going into the contest in fifth, The Saints have won just one of their last five, and lost each of their last two.

A 3-0 loss to Aberdeen was tough to take, especially as fans fancied themselves to finish above The Dons this season, and they were on the wrong end of another 3-0 beating last time, sinking to Rangers at McDiarmid Park. Pena scored a double, showing just what he is capable of, before Dorrans added a third. Anderson was sent off for a second bookable offence on 71 minutes, thus ending his side’s challenge.

If Saints are to climb the table they must first get back on the goal trail, and the visitors to get at least one in Edinburgh is 4/9 with William Hill, which would sit well in accumulators. That’s better than I expected to see. The away win is even more attractive, Boylesports handing out a cracking 3/1 on the points heading back to Perth at full-time.

Hearts vs St Johnstone – Scottish Premiership Tips and Betting Predictions

A cracking price on St Johnstone, and I really wouldn’t put anyone off an interest at the value. They are certainly more than capable of winning this one. For the best of our betting tips however, we’re on both teams to score at 4/5 with Betfair. That allows us to sit on the fence in what should be a competitive 90 minutes, but also gives a shot at a decent price. That’ll help boost your accas.

In the correct score market, we’re going to keep our stakes low and play 2-1 St Johnstone as the next best of our predictions. I make the visitors worth a shot at going and nicking this one, thankfully traders don’t agree. Betfair again lead the line, handing over a market best price 13/1 that we’re onto something. You won’t go far wrong there.
