Hibs vs Aberdeen – Tips and Betting Predictions

Scottish Premiership, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 14th October 2017 from Easter Road

Hibs v Aberdeen Tips

Game of the day from the Scottish Premiership goes at Easter Road where we see locals Hibs take on joint-top Aberdeen from 3.00pm. A capital city tussle, the hosts go in on the back of a stunning draw with Celtic at Parkhead, but it’ll all be for nothing if they follow that up with defeat in front of their own fans. The Dons are going great guns, but this is a very winnable match for Hibs. Can they deliver?

Bookmakers think so, and have home cheer priced up as the most likely outcome here, Hibs favourites across the board. These sides served up a five-goal thriller when last meeting, in the Scottish Cup earlier this year, and neutrals would welcome a repeat performance. Our boys have their say – read on for expert betting tips and predictions.

Team News – Hibs

With an eye-catching win over Rangers at Ibrox already in the bag, Neil Lennon faced his biggest task as Hibs manager when taking his boys to Celtic Park last time out. We expected the former Hoops’ boss to get caught up in the emotion of it all and lead his side to a painful defeat, but it didn’t quite work out like that. The Edinburgh club rolled up their sleeves, scrapping to a 2-2 draw. On another day, with a bit more luck, they could have got the win too, conceding an equaliser on 80 minutes.

Hibs had less of the ball, but forced more shots at goal and more on target. McGinn notched a double, on 53 and 77 minutes, in a performance Lennon thought added £2m to his price tag. Celtic salvaged a point, and their 58-game unbeaten record, thanks to two goals from McGregor. The Bhoys went into the break 1-0 up, but looked rather fortunate to get a share.

Hibs were involved in a four-goal thriller last time, and with these two scoring five when last meeting, both teams to find the net is always going to be a popular play in weekend betting tips and predictions at Easter Road. Click yes and get top price at Sportingbet, their 31/40 the best available. A home win is favourite, William Hill’s 8/5 one of the better prices going at the time of writing.

Team News – Aberdeen

Aberdeen head into this looking to complete the hat-trick, having won each of their last two. A record of six wins and two draws from eight has them joint-top of the division, behind Celtic on goal difference, six the gap at present. The Bhoys are in with lowly Dundee, and expected to win, meaning the pressure is on Aberdeen to match that effort if they are to keep pace. They enjoy a six-point cushion over Rangers in third, so can’t fall out of the best two.

Derek McInnes saw his side knocked out of the League Cup at the hands of Motherwell last month, but rallied to reverse that with a win over the same opponent next time out, nicking a 1-0 at Fir Park. That was followed with a comfortable 3-0 over St Johnstone, making a mockery of what had been described as a 50/50. Adam Rooney stole the show, scoring a hat-trick, including two goals inside 20 minutes. The Saints couldn’t match that.

That performance proves Rooney is back to his best and he is sure to start here. He’s 11/2 second favourite to score first, best price with Bet Victor, behind Anthony Stokes at 4/1. I’d rather have my money on the bigger offer there. An Aberdeen win can be backed at 7/4 with most major firms, including Coral, while the draw has been written off at 5/2.

Hibs vs Aberdeen – Scottish Premiership Tips and Betting Predictions

I’m going to keep my stakes low here and go both teams to score and Aberdeen to win as the NAP of our betting tips, which is available at 17/4 with Bet Victor. That would have been a winning bet when these sides last met, but it’s also a play on the form side of the two. Apart from those efforts against the Old Firm, Hibs have been below par, winning just one of their last five.

Sticking with that thought for the next best of our predictions, and the correct score gives us a play at a decent price. 2-1 Aberdeen trades at 10/1 with Betfair and that quote should give us something to smile about come the full-time whistle. Expect a thoroughly entertaining contest – let’s hope we mark the occasion with a profit.
