Team News – Hibs
Hibs go into game 10 of their season sitting beneath rivals Hearts in the league table. There’s only two places and two points in it however, meaning there’s all to play for here. Win on Tuesday and not only will followers of the Hibees enjoy delivering a body-blow to their old enemy in maroon, they’ll also see their side leapfrog their neighbours up into the top-five, closing the gap on the European places in the process.
Wins have been difficult to come by for local manager Neil Lennon of late however, picking up just one victory from his last five starts. That uninspiring run is made up of three draws and a defeat last time out. That patchy form was made worse by a 1-0 home reverse to Aberdeen on their last league start, before going down 4-2 vs Celtic in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden on Saturday. In an end-to-end tussle, a double from Dembele and Lustig overshadowed goals from Stokes and Shaw.
Lennon blamed some sloppy defending for his side’s failure to reach the last two, where they would have had every chance of beating Motherwell. If you expect to see another poor showing from the backline, get on both teams to score in your betting tips and predictions on Tuesday at 3/4 (Bet Victor). Prefer the home win? Hibs to beat Hearts is 21/20 favourite through Coral.
Team News – Hearts
The Jambos may be higher in the table than their opponents, but they’ve played a game more, beating St Johnstone at Tynecastle on Saturday to boost their stock. That moved Levein’s October form to two wins from two starts, following a battling 2-1 away day at Ross County. A fantastic platform on which to build, and fans would love nothing more than to complete the hat-trick with a win over Hibs on their own patch.
Former Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty scored the only goal of the game on Saturday, netting on 74 minutes at Murrayfield to add confidence to the ranks of his employers. Manager Craig Levein, speaking to the media at full-time, called it a war of attrition, but he was pleased his side were able to see out the game against a very capable opponent in St Johnstone. Opposite number Tommy Wright thought neither team deserved three points.
Surprisingly, Hearts have been written off, priced as the outsider of three in the match betting market. With a 50/50 contest expected by many, that’s sure to catch the eye, and you can get on a Hearts cheer at 14/5. Be sure to make your play at Boylesports, as they are offering up a market best price on the Jam Tarts.
Hibs vs Hearts – Scottish Premiership Tips and Betting Predictions
Interesting to see Hearts, the form side of the two, go at the bigger price, but I am going to sit on the fence here and have a draw as the best of our betting tips. Four of the last seven matches involving these great rivals have ended all-square, and I’m happy to follow that when putting together our plan of attack, 12/5 at Betfair nice enough.
Sticking with that thought and we’ll have 1-1 as the pick of our correct score predictions, a bet that will land you the profits of 6/1 (Bet Victor) if we’re onto something. That would have been settled as a winner in half of the last four drawn Edinburgh derbies and the price makes it worth another go in midweek. I expect both sides to cancel each other out in the middle of the park.
