Partick Thistle vs Dundee – Tips and Betting Predictions

Scottish Premiership, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 21st October 2017 from Firhill Stadium

Partick Thistle v Dundee Tips

Partick Thistle aim to claw their way off the bottom of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon in Glasgow when hosting fellow top-flight strugglers Dundee in one of only three 3.00pm starts. The locals are winless so far this season, but could join second-bottom Kilmarnock with the right result.

Dundee will have something to say about that, and make the trip with plans of their own for the points, having lost last time out. The visitors are just two points better than the drop zone, but would do themselves a massive favour by bagging the win here. How will this one go? Team News – Partick Thistle

Rock-bottom of the table, Thistle bring a poor record into this one of no wins, three draws and six defeats. To make matters worse, they’ve lost each of their last two, bringing an end to three draws that threatened improvement. Will they use home advantage to finally get off the mark, sticking that elusive first win of the season on the board? I wouldn’t want to risk too much money on it, that’s for sure, as they’ve been rotten so far.

Alan Archibald looked on through the cracks in his fingers as the team lost again last time, beaten 2-0 by Kilmarnock who, at this stage, are their main rivals for the drop. A painful result to take, as any team who have beaten relegation will confirm, points picked up against teams around you in the division make all the difference. Boyd was back on target, giving Killie the lead, before Frizzell made sure.

Archibald threw up his hands at full-time, admitting his side didn’t deserve to get the win, blaming a failure to use their possession wisely, and a slackness in front of goal, for yet another blank day. He didn’t let the defence off either, labelling both Kilmarnock goals as sloppy ones for his crew to lose. The gaffer will hope his troops show him a reaction on Saturday. Traders think they will, giving 13/10 (William Hill) on the home win. That price makes them favourite.

Team News – Dundee

Down in eighth, there’s no doubt Dundee are getting better, but they’re four points off Hearts in seventh, and five behind a spot in the top-six. Plenty of work to be done by manager Neil McCann, and the boss will be all too aware that Kilmarnock, who got the win last weekend, are within touching distance down in the relegation zone. At present, it looks like any two of five could be relegated come the better weather.

Dundee put together an impressive three-match unbeaten run recently, beating St Johnstone and Hearts, drawing with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. They were on the losing side last weekend, but that defeat was suffered at the home of the champions, and there wasn’t too much in it. Celtic nicked a 1-0, Ntcham scoring the winner from range, but McCann thought his boys should have got a penalty.

The beaten manager spoke at full-time, seemingly delighted with the performance, but frustrated by the result. He said not many teams will leave Celtic Park thinking they should have got something from the day, but that was his view. Dundee to continue to build with a win is 23/10, best price at bet365, the draw available in your betting tips and predictions at 12/5 in places.

Partick Thistle vs Dundee – Scottish Premiership Tips and Betting Predictions

I see no reason why Dundee should be written off here. Remember, they have lost only to Celtic recently, and there wasn’t an awful lot in that one. As punters, we can’t forget that Partick are yet to manage a single win, so we’re having Dundee as the NAP of our betting tips at 23/10 (bet365). If nothing else, I reckon we will get a serious run for our money on that play.

If Partick are good enough to get that first win of the season, we’ll let them go and do it, I’d much rather be on the better side at a bigger price. Keeping that in mind, we’re going to take a poke at the correct score market, with 1-0 Dundee the next best of our match predictions. 9/1 (Paddy Power) will be landing in your account if we’re right.
