Partick Thistle vs Kilmarnock – Tips and Betting Predictions

Scottish Premiership, kick-off at 3:00pm Saturday 14th October 2017 from Firhill Stadium

Partick Thistle v Kilmarnock Tips

One of the more entertaining meetings from Scottish football is planned for a 3.00pm start at Firhill Stadium, Glasgow on Saturday as the Premiership’s bottom-two sides meet in Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock. Locked on three points, neither side has managed a league win so far, but will be hoping that all changes by 4.45pm.

Victory wouldn’t be enough to lift either out of the relegation zone, Ross County in 10th four points better off, but what it would do was give the victors a bit of breathing space, while pushing their opponents’ head under water. This will take all the solving, let’s get it done. Free betting tips and predictions, designed to line your pockets.

Team News – Partick Thistle

Three draws and five defeats goes as the form of both sides after eight games, and they’re locked at the foot of the table on -8 goals Thistle scoring more, but conceding more. The Jags looked like they may have turned a corner, stringing together three draws on the bounce, but were beaten last time out, knocked down by Motherwell on the road, courtesy of a 3-0 battering. Manager Alan Archibald called it their worst performance of the season.

Thistle took plenty of credit from a 1-1 finish with Hearts at this venue recently, but they had little answer for The Steelmen, beaten 3-0 before the international break in a result that heaped pressure on Archibald. Hartley scored for Motherwell early in the match, and that set the pace for the day, Tanner and Bowman adding a bit of sparkle in the second 45. Thistle were beaten but, to make matters worse, they failed to register a single shot on target.

That doesn’t do much to encourage a play on the home win here, and there’s 3/1 available at William Hill if you reckon they’ll fail to hit the net again on Saturday. At least one goal is a lot more likely, no more than Sportingbet’s 1/4 up for grabs. The home side won’t find themselves as favourites too often this year, but they are the shortest price here, an option in your match betting and predictions at 11/10 with Coral.

Team News – Kilmarnock

Killie cut ties with manager Lee McCulloch recently, the well-travelled player seeing his contract ripped up by mutual consent. Who is to blame? Well, plenty thought he was let down by his players, and we know a team like Kilmarnock don’t have money to spend in the transfer window, but we can’t argue with results, and McCulloch’s were the worst in the league after eight games. It’ll be interesting to see where the former Rangers man goes from here.

There has been no lack of interest in taking the Rugby Park hot-seat since, Paul McDonald placed in interim charge until that is sorted out. Former Portugal international Jorge Costa is one of the names believed to be in the frame at the minute, putting himself forward, but he’s one of over 50 applicants. We’d be surprised to see the board go with an ambitious, yet untested, manager. Steve Clarke is another mentioned in the press.

Whoever does take charge will have a job on their hands cleaning up the mess the club is in at the moment, and it’s expected to get worse on Saturday, with the visitors written off in the betting to get anything out of the afternoon. A draw has been priced at 12/5 with Betfair. A nice deal, but more likely than the away win, which can be taken at a top price of 13/5 with Coral. +1 on the handicap is 4/5 through bet365.

Partick Thistle vs Kilmarnock – Scottish Premiership Tips and Betting Predictions

Kilmarnock players feel like they cost Lee McCulloch his job and, to a degree, they did. Therefore, we expect them to raise their game a level or two in an attempt to save their own positions at the club, and probably in top-tier Scottish football. Kilmarnock to score a goal, regardless of the outcome of this match, is the NAP of our betting tips at 9/20, top price with Sportingbet.

In the correct score market, we’ll play 1-1 as the next best of our predictions, a result that will land you a 6/1 pay-out if we’re on the money, courtesy of William Hill. That’s favourite, but there’s every reason to believe we will get a run for our money with that one. Thistle were involved in two 1-1 finishes last month. Fingers crossed for another.
