Rangers vs Kilmarnock – Tips and Betting Predictions

Scottish Premiership, kick-off at 7:45pm Wednesday 25th October 2017 from Ibrox Stadium

Rangers v Kilmarnock Tips

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha suffered another spirit crushing defeat on Sunday when beaten 2-0 by Motherwell at Hampden in the semi-final of the League Cup. The result was a disaster, but the performance was much worse, and the boss now finds himself under increasing pressure from the stands. Critics call him a pretender – a manager who has been found out at this level.

Will the board listen to the groanings of fans and swing the axe this week? Another chance to win silverware has slipped through their grasp, and defeat at home to Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening would surely be the final nail in the Portuguese manager’s coffin. Killie are a big price to get the desired result – follow our betting tips and predictions.

Team News – Rangers

As well as an underachieving manager, Rangers also have a squad of misfiring players, the bulk of Pedro’s summer buys looking nowhere near good enough to improve the team. Carlos Pena, a big money signing, has done nothing but agitate the support so far, his lazy, disinterested approach attracting fury. It was another poor showing from the attacker on Sunday, and he offers very little to the team going forward, and nothing tracking back.

Bruno Alves was, perhaps, the only man who got pass marks in that defeat vs Motherwell, showing his experience at the back, but the defender, who has won just about everything in the game must be wondering just what he is doing in Scotland. He loves a challenge, that’s fair enough, but those around him make it a losing battle. Everyone to a man in the home dressing room on Wednesday owes the fans a response.

Rangers beat Kilmarnock 3-0 when last hosting the Rugby Park club, and a repeat performance would be made to feel most welcome by everyone in light blue. The locals are 1/4 favourites with Bet Victor going into the week, and that’s surprising, given the level of performance at Hampden. A draw has been written off, 5/1 available when betting with Betfair. Another Rangers win to nil is there if you have more belief in the locals than I do, 23/20 (Bet Victor).

Team News – Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock can be found down in the relegation zone, with only Partick Thistle worse off. The Jags have played one game more, and sit level on points with Killie, although they’ve conceded more goals. In its current shape, any one of five sides could finish in the bottom-two this season. There’s plenty more twists and turns to come however, don’t worry about that, and we fancy the fight at the bottom to be far more interesting than the race for the flag.

Killie have won just one match so far this season, but they achieved that rare positive last time out, beating Partick in Glasgow, courtesy of a 2-0 full-time score. Points won over rivals down at the wrong end of the charts counts double, but the visitors must build on that going forward. A win at Ibrox is no mean feat, but the visitors will, at least, want to be competitive, asking questions of a nervy home defence.

Kris Boyd is back at Ibrox and he’s a 19/2 shot with Bet Victor to score the game’s first goal, or 11/4 at Coral to get on the scoresheet any time during the evening. That’s more likely than the away win, with traders putting a line through Kilmarnock’s chances. There’s reason to believe Rangers are there for the taking – chance Kilmarnock in your betting tips and predictions at 69/5 on the Betfair exchange.

Rangers vs Kilmarnock – Scottish Premiership Tips and Betting Predictions

That Hampden horror show aside, Rangers have won each of their last two league starts, and with Aberdeen hosting Celtic up at Pittodrie, The Bears have a real chance to close the gap on the top-two with a maximum pay-out. Rangers must wipe their chin and get back to basics, leaving Sunday’s beating in the past. We’re having both score and Rangers to win as the NAP of our betting tips at 15/8 (William Hill).

2-1 Rangers goes in as the next best of our predictions, and we’re expecting a nervy home cheer. It’s in their capabilities to send out a real message with a thumping result, but we’ve seen nothing from this current crop of players to suggest they’ll deliver. Pena must be dropped and the argument with Kenny Miller settled. Take your chances on the 2-1 at 17/2 (Bet Victor).
