Tips and predictions round up – 12th May 2018

Scottish football fans sign-off for the season with a jaw-dropping 21/1 winner

Some of the biggest leagues in European football played their final round of the season over the course of the weekend and credit must go to all involved as fans were treated to a real goal-fest.

In the past we’ve seen some teams roll to a stop, simply going through the motions with nothing to play for and no real effort given. That wasn’t the case here with Liverpool hammering Brighton 4-0, Newcastle heaping pressure on Chelsea with a 3-0 victory, Tottenham and Leicester’s stunning nine-goal drama and Hibs 5 – 5 Rangers in Scotland.

We failed to see any of those coming but there was plenty for lovers of our free football betting tips and predictions to get excited about with some big priced winners. The best of them came from the Scottish Premiership and despite bookies writing off our chances we saw the upset coming a mile off.

Set the scene – Celtic had won another Premiership title and were hosting Aberdeen on the final day of the season. Win and it would’ve sent fans off happy but lose the match and it would’ve ensured The Dons finished second ahead of Old Firm rivals Rangers. Now, we’re not saying The Bhoys lay down to hurt their city neighbours – plenty are – but we did tell you Aberdeen would follow a midweek draw with The Bears with a rare victory at Parkhead.

Either odds compilers didn’t read too much into the backstory or just thought we were seeing something that wasn’t there but the 7/1 at Boylesports on an away day was simply too good to miss and we put that as our best bet. NAP landed. Well done if you were bold enough to follow our thinking.

We weren’t done there though and, as with every match preview we provide from football’s biggest and best leagues, we gave an alternative play from the correct score field, available at a bigger price. Aberdeen 1-0 filled that role and those who had a taste saw their bank account boosted to the tune of 21/1. Stunning. You simply don’t get winners like that with our competitors and although the cash in your pocket is what it’s all about it was also nice to see our hard work paying off.

Doolan scores 8/1 winner to boost Partick’s survival hopes

Sticking with Scottish football and on Saturday the bottom-six sorted out the two relegation places. It went down to the wire with Ross County and Partick Thistle ending 12th and 11th respectively. County won just six games all season and will be playing Championship football next term. Partick have a chance to save their skin and will face Livingston over two legs in what’s sure to be a thrilling play-off.

Before they go into that, Glasgow’s third club handed us a parting gift with an eye-catching profit. We knew The Jags would have enough to see off rivals Dundee who had nothing to play for having already secured their top-flight status for next term. It was always going to be a matter of who wanted it more and 6/4 was the shrewd play.

Next best of our predictions was another 1-0 correct score and we swept up an 8/1 prize thanks to Boylesports. Dundee didn’t offer too much resistance, finishing the match with 49% of the possession and just three shots on target. Kris Doolan kept his cool to nudge home the decider on 63 minutes. They’ll need to perform much better to see off a dogged Livingston led by ex-Chelsea man David Hopkin.
